About 1X

We’re building humanoid robots that work in any space humans exist with the mission to create an abundance of labor. Simple, but it’s not.

To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, software, hardware, manufacturing and operations at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe. If you’re inspired by this, you’ll thrive here. We’ve been at this since 2014 and we’re at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us.

NEO is our flagship - a general purpose robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We’re not demoing it, we're shipping it. We’re excited to meet you, if this excites you.

If you’ve spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time safely creating abundance for all.

About the Team:

The Test & Validation team makes sure NEO and its critical systems are safe, reliable, and ready for the real world. We build and operate the test infrastructure needed to understand how our hardware performs, where it fails, and what needs to improve before it reaches customers.

As a Test Technician, you’ll work across a wide range of hardware validation activities, supporting thermal, mechanical, and electrical testing. This is a hands-on role where you’ll set up equipment, integrate hardware, run tests, inspect test articles, troubleshoot issues, and communicate results to engineering teams.

Your Charter: Execute safe, repeatable, and high-quality hardware testing that gives engineering teams clear evidence of product performance, reliability, and failure behavior.

You’ll own the hands-on details of test execution, from preparing equipment and fixtures and integrating the Device Under Test through monitoring, teardown, inspection, data collection, and reporting. You’ll also help keep the lab ready and improve test setups as programs and requirements evolve.

Key Outcomes:

  • Execute thermal, mechanical, and electrical validation and reliability tests safely and consistently from setup through completion.

  • Set up and maintain test equipment, fixtures, instrumentation, cabling, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and other lab hardware required for testing.

  • Collect accurate, traceable test data and produce clear test summaries that allow engineering teams to understand results and make decisions.

  • Troubleshoot test setups and hardware during execution, quickly identify issues, and escalate failures with clear technical documentation.

  • Maintain test-cell readiness by keeping equipment, fixtures, workspaces, and procedures organized, functional, and ready for changing test priorities.

Key Competencies:

  • Hands-on hardware technician who enjoys working directly with physical systems, tools, fixtures, instrumentation, and lab equipment.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to understand how test setups and hardware interact.

  • Detail-oriented and disciplined in following test procedures while recognizing and communicating when something does not look right.

  • Practical troubleshooter who can isolate equipment, setup, and Device Under Test issues.

  • Adaptable team player who can manage multiple test priorities in a fast-moving engineering environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a test lab, engineering laboratory, manufacturing test, or similar technical environment.

  • Experience setting up and executing tests on complex hardware or electromechanical systems.

  • Experience using laboratory equipment, fixtures, instrumentation, power supplies, data acquisition systems, or thermal/mechanical test equipment.

  • Ability to interpret test plans or engineering requirements, configure test setups, and document test results.

  • Experience using Excel to organize test data and communicate results.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting design validation, reliability, or manufacturing validation testing.

  • Familiarity with data acquisition, statistical analysis, or test automation.

  • Experience with robotics, automation, automotive, consumer hardware, or other complex electromechanical products.

  • Experience with thermal, vibration, durability, mechanical actuation, or electrical testing.

Compensation Range:

$30.00-$48.00/hr

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • Generous paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave
